President’s Message
Back on Deck (sort of)
I was delighted to be able to rejoin this week’s meeting.
I was admitted to Footscray Hospital on Sept 12 for an Angiogram and spent three days there before being transferred to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for quintuple bypass surgery on Sept 17.
I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful hospital system, surgeons, medical and nursing staff that we have here in Australia.
I sincerely thank our Vice-President, Colin Muir for all his assistance during my absence. Colin chaired our Club meetings on Sept 13 & 20, in addition to the Board Meeting on Sept 21.
Colin himself now faces some major surgery in two week’s time at St Vincents Hospital. I extend to Colin the very best wishes from all of us at Werribee Rotary for what lies ahead for him.
Melbourne Cup Sweep
Ross Conley has arranged a $10 Sweep for the 24 horses in this year’s Melbourne Cup.
Ross will be emailing everyone with information about the prizes, including how to pay your $10 entry fee.
If there is sufficient interest then a second Sweep may be possible.
Facemasks Project – A Bonus Santa Spinoff!
The Facemasks Project team produced more cloth masks than expected.
About 400 have been distributed to the Werribee Salvos and Wyndham Uniting Care, as needed. Thank you to Mary Macauley and the Cut, Giggle & Sew team for your great work.
The surplus masks have gone to Brian Ahmed (Wyndham Cache) and John Micallef (Werribee Cartridge World), who have been selling them as a Rotary fund-raising project.
As last week’s meeting, the Board agreed to provide up to $500 to Wyndham Uniting Care to purchase Santa Toys Gift Vouchers to use to buy presents for children from needy families.
End Polio Now - Walk With Us
There is still time to support Rob and Lyn as TEAM FAVA walks to raise money for Rotary’s International Project End Polio Now.

Have a great week.
