PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Next Week It’s Back To Normal.....Again!
Our ZOOM meeting this week had reduced numbers, but I am sure that next Tuesday, when we are back at the ISCW, we will have a really good rollup of Werribee Rotarians!

We want to see YOU at next week’s meeting!

Paying on Club Meeting Nights
We will no longer have a $25 collection at the door when members arrive.
The ISCW now takes meal orders and payments at the table, due to COVID-19 requirements.
The Club will be collecting $5 from each member when they arrive. This weekly contribution will fund the raffle, pay for the meals of guest speakers and guests of members and potential Rotarians, while any remaining money will go into Members Funds.

Ian Knight in Post-Operative Rehab
Ian had a back operation at the Austin Hospital on Feb 13th and is now in rehab at the Epworth Brighton. Genny said that, after the operation, he had a very small amount of feeling in his feet/legs. They both are hoping that some intensive physio will help his current inability to walk. We wish you well Ian.

THIS WEEK AT ROTARY

It was a quiet Zoom meeting this week with only 11 members joining in and no guest speaker. However, we substituted the speaking spot with a couple of interesting but short Ted Talks videos which seemed to hit the spot. It might be the way of the future.

NEXT WEEK - 23rd FEBRUARY

Next week, we will be back at the Italian Sports Club.

Guest speaker will be Lyle Raison. Lyle is the husband of Pam who is a past member of our club. He is a former army officer having spent 38 years in the force.

The key thrust of his talk will be about the Vietnam War and in particular about the effects the conflict had on returning soldiers. Lyle played a crucial role in supporting those who had difficulty in adjusting back to normal life.

WERRIBEE ROTARY GOLF DAY - 26th MARCH

Our thermometer shows that we're tracking pretty well in our target to achieve $20,000 in sponsorship and player payments. If/when we reach this target, we will raise the bar and aim for $25,000.

So far we have 77 players registered which is pretty good. But we're hoping for at least 100.

Don't forget, if you are intending to play and haven't registered yet, the Early Bird deal ends in 8 days time

Do you know someone who plays golf? Ask them to register & see if they can get a group of four together.

Do you know someone who can sponsor us? Speak to them, or pass the details onto Ian Hovey to follow up.

Do you know someone who can help us on the day? We need another 5-6 volunteers desperately.

See Ian Hovey if you need registration forms.

Yvonne Moon OAM Memorial Concert for Rocan
Many members know of the great work of the late Yvonne Moon. Her husband Fred has organised a 5 hour music concert fundraiser, to raise funds for Rocan.

A lot of Werribee members knew Yvonne, and it would be great if we could organise a table of 10.

$30 entry - finger food and drinks at bar prices.

Speak to President Michael if you want to join the Werribee table.

We will be holding a tree planting day at the Werribee River on Saturday 17/4/2021 in conjunction with the Werribee River Association. President Michael would like your support for this working bee which is designed to support the celebration of the centenary of Rotary in Australia. Funds raised will go to The Rotary Foundation. More details to follow soon.

Multi-District PETs
Graham Roper reported that he attended the multi-District training session for incoming Presidents last weekend. He said it was "full on" but well organised.

The highlight of the event was a presentation from Michael McQueen who is an internationally-acclaimed Australian speaker, futurist and author. His topic was titled "Towards 2030".
