Australia Day Jan 26th – Pop-Up Parks Fun Day
Thank you to our members who have offered to join in with the Chirnside Cluster Clubs to celebrate Australia Day at three of the Wyndham Pop-Up Parks.

The Rotarians will be giving away 1,000 Rotary Show bags to the children together with Australian flag tattoos to go on faces and hands. Magicians, face painters, bands and performers will be in each Pop-Up Park to entertainment the children and their families.

On Sunday 4 of our members have volunteered to fill the Show Bags.

For Australia Day, we have 7 members so far able to help out at the 3 Pop-Up Parks and
Colin Muir is looking for some more helpers!

If you can be there on Tuesday then please contact Colin (0412 430 998) who can allocate you to one of the Pop-Up Parks.

From the Board Meeting Jan 20th
  1. Reduced Members Subs for the 2nd half year - $140
Our Subs have been reduced by $50 to $140. This has been made possible by proceeds from the sale of the framed photos from the Wyndham Cache, generously provided by Brian Ahmed, plus a modest reduction in District 9800 levies.

Invoices will be mailed to all members. Payment can be made by bank transfer or by using our Eftpos machine during our meetings in Feb.
  1. Comparing Meeting Venues: ISCW and the Bridge Hotel
During Feb, the Board felt that we should transfer one meeting to the Bridge Hotel. This will give every member the opportunity to compare the ISCW with the Bridge Hotel.

This will assist the Board in making a final decision about which should be our ongoing venue.
The venue schedule will be:
Feb 2nd -ISCW
Feb 9th-Bridge Hotel, Watton Street
Feb 16th - ISCW
Feb 23rd -ISCW
  1. Werribee Rotary Awards Night Tues, Mar 2nd
This will be a Partners Night at the ISCW. It will be a BIG CELEBRATORY EVENT!
The Club will be inviting all of our friends and helpers who have supported the Club in so many ways over the past two Rotary years. These include supporters from:Cut Giggle & Sew, Friends of Rotary, Breakfast Club, Bunnings BBQ, and Facemasks/Blankets/Ponchos makers.

We want to show each of our friends how much they are valued.
The Awards Night will provide an opportunity to extend to them the Club’s deep appreciation for all their work in supporting Werribee Rotary over the past two years.

Enjoy the next 2 weeks before we meet again on Feb 2nd

Michael

This week at Rotary

Pres Michael presided over his first official meeting for 2000/2021.

Despite the difficulties of the Covid pandemic, Werribee Rotary did as much as we could.
  • We produced hundreds of face masks for aid agencies, including about 70 which we sold through Wyndham cache.
  • WERN - the club assisted with pickups & the relocation of WERN
  • The club made $1,100 from the sale of the old Wyndham Cache pictures
  • We did a Sunday Bunnings BBQ, which was the most profitable we have had.
  • Bingo is back and running - $800 profit last week and $600 last night.
During the night we discussed organisation for the Australia Day Celebrations. Contact Colin Muir if you can help - as little as an hour will help us.

Next Week
Next week 26 January - no meeting due to Australia Day holiday.

Guest speaker for 2nd February has been organised by Zoom, and we are trying to re-organise.

Werribee Rotary Golf Day

As a result of the improved Covid outcomes, we have taken the decision to proceed with the organisation of our Annual Golf Day.

To 'buy us as much time as possible' we have put the date back to Friday 26th March.

This year we are going to run the event as a morning competition, with a light breakfast and lunch.

We are looking for golfers.

  • Organise a group of four players.
  • Let us know of potential sponsors. Steve Evans, Jim Randall & Marty Vaina are doing a great job getting sponsors.

We are going to need plenty of volunteers on the day, so put the date in your diary now.

See Ian Hovey if you need registration forms.

Good luck Ian - we are all thinking of you.

Guest Speakers
Everyone knows someone with an interesting story to tell. Pass them onto Ian Hovey so we can follow them up to speak to us on Zoom at a later date.

WERN has now completed the move to new premises in Rockfield Way, Ravenhall. Thanks to Werribee Rotary members who assisted with the move on 14 December.

If you know of any furniture, whitegoods or other household items that are in good condition, speak to Robert Fava or Ross Smith. We are always looking for for more equipment.
