Next Tuesday June 29th we will be meeting back at the Italian Sports Club of Werribee.
Our Guest Speaker will be Jeff Garfield who will be accompanied by Pam. Rotary partners and friends are very welcome to attend. I am sure there will be lots of catching up to do with Jeff and Pam since they moved from Werribee to live in Point Lonsdale.
This will be a special night for me also, as I will be chairing my last meeting as Club President.
I will have the great pleasure to formally induct our newest member Jerestene (Jess) Saher into the Rotary Club of Werribee.
Our Changeover Meeting will now be held on Tuesday July 6th at the ISCW and will be a PARTNERS’ NIGHT.
Changeover is the most important meeting in every Rotary Year, and this meeting will see the handing over of the Club Presidency from Michael Redding (2020-21) to Graham Roper (2021-22).
A tumultuous Rotary Year comes to a rewarding conclusion with these two celebratory meetings!
I am looking forward to having our Werribee Rotarians, partners and friends joining in at these two special events coming up.
Junior Dictator Dan, was not prepared to wind back restrictions enough, for it to be viable for the ISCW to open. So here we are again, back on Zoom.
Our guests on Zoom tonight were:
AG Amrit Singh
Jess Sahar
Andi Barfield.
This weeks on Zoom, our program co-ordinator Ian Hovey organised another TED Talk. This weeks talk was done in 2015 by Bill Gates - Chairman and co-founder of Microsoft, on the topic - We Must Prepare For The Next Pandemic.
What an amazing talk, and to think he was telling the world to be prepared, and start planning for the inevitable, but nobody listened.
Following the talk, we all participated in a Trivia Quiz.
We are 'finally' back at the ISCW again, after restrictions were eased again for the third week in a row. Its amazing how we have a "short circuit breaker lockdown" for one week, that then became two. But the restrictions take 5 or 6 weeks to be returned to normal.
Next weeks guest speaker is Past Member Jeff Garfield. Jeff lived in Werribee all his life and has an amazing knowledge of 'old Werribee'. He also has access to an amazing collection of old Werribee photos.
Partners & guests are welcome.
Also bring any warm blankets, coats or warm clothing in good condition, for Rotary to donate to the Werribee Salvation Army.
The current Covid restrictions, only allow five people in someone's house, so it is not possible to proceed our Changeover Lunch on Sunday 4th July At Tino & Robyn's.
Instead the Changeover will now be held on Tuesday 6th July 2021 at 6.30 for 6.45pm start.
If you have paid for the changeover, your money will be refunded.
On arrival, you will choose your meal from the menu on the table, and get your drinks from the bar.
Only five games were played this week, and the bonus point applied again for getting all tips correct. (A bit Sus I reckon - should have to get 9 for a bonus)
The 'the egg man' has made more comebacks than Barnaby Joyce, and after giving up the lead twice, is back on top again, thanks to the bonus point. This is the third time this season, he has got all tips correct.
Six tippers managed to get 5 out of 5, and got the bonus point. Brian, Roper, Hoves, Peter & Liz, and Jimmy Randall.
The angry golfer Phil got the $10 for closest margin on Friday night.
The leaderboard after 14 rounds is;
Brian Ahmed 84
Ross Conley 83
Graham Roper 82

Bunnings BBQ
We are waiting for Bunnings to allocate us a BBQ hopefully in July.
Guest Speakers
Everyone knows someone with an interesting story to tell. Please pass their details on to Ian Hovey so we can follow them up to speak to us in person or on Zoom at a later date.
WERN
WERN is pretty much back to normal again, and we have been very busy getting orders out to clients.
We are always looking for volunteers to help, on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. There are all sorts of jobs people can do, from light duties to loading the truck.
WERN are constantly looking for more goods to supply to the needy. If you know anyone who is downsizing, deceased estates, etc, then let us know. It has to be in reasonable condition. It cant be broken or stained. We are updating our brochure, and will put it in the bulletin, as it has a list of products we can take. We take, beds, bedding, furniture, fridges, washing machines, dryers, plates, cuttlery, cooking utensils, towels, kettles, toasters etc etc.
