Werribee Rotary in Action on Sat April 17th
This year Rotary is celebrating its Centenary in Australia & NZ.
As part of this, on Sat, April 17th Werribee Rotary, together with families and friends, will be going to a Parks Victoria area alongside the Werribee River to plant 700 trees which are in small containers.
The planting will start at 9 am and finish at about midday with a BBQ lunch and soft drinks.
Wear suitable clothes, bring a hat, gloves, a trowel, sunscreen and water.
To get there: enter Farm Road, next to the B24 Hanger on the Princes Highway, then cross the Geelong Freeway into the City West Water farm.
Turn first left into Main Drive which goes south along the river to the car parking area. The tree planting location is a short walk from the carpark.
We want you to join us – as Rotarians In Action!
We will be planting trees, celebrating the Centenary of Rotary in Australia & NZ and creating a new forest - which should be around for another 100 years!
A 3rd Werribee Rotary Club Installation for the City of Wyndham?
In 1997 our Club constructed the Japanese Garden at the Wyndham Civic Centre and a few years later laid the inscribed brick footpath along Comben Drive leading up to the footbridge crossing the River into Wyndham Park.
These two installations were part of the Club’s community involvement: to construct substantial features as a contribution to the community, with funding provided by the Club.
As President and on behalf of the Club, I have written to the Mayor and CEO of Wyndham Council, expressing our interest for three Board members to meet with the Council to discuss a new installation which the Council may wish to see erected in the town centre.
Such a new installation would be an acknowledgement of the work of Werribee Rotary Club in the Wyndham community, together with the Centenary of Rotary in Australia. Funding could be provided by the Club.
As these discussions progress the Board will be in a position to consider various options, which may be suggested by the Council, for a new community installation and an estimated cost for each.
I feel sure Club members may also wish to contribute to this process.
If a proposed Installation Project is identified by the Council, the Board will have to decide as to whether or not to proceed.
