Next Week

Meeting is at Manor Court Werribee
5 Hogan Grove, Werribee

Guest Speaker
Sarah Norton - Level Crossing Removal Project.

Senior Stakeholder Relations & Communications Adviser

Three or four weeks ago, the Level Crossing Removal Authority, released their preferred and non preferred recommendations, for the removal of the three Wyndham Level Crossings.

The authority is in the public consultation phase, and are considering public input about the recommended options.

This is a great opportunity to listen to the rationale behind each option, and to impart our Werribee knowledge including possible better options.

The night is a partner & guest night. If you havent put your name on the list, let Ross Smith know - 0418 692 329 so we can get catering right.

During the night, Werribee Rotary will be making a donation of $20,000 to Manor Court Chairman Emily Keogh, towards the replacement of furniture in the $400,000 upgraded memory support unit.

Tours are available after the meeting.

Last Week Guest Speaker
Peter Cullen - Reclink Australia

Peter spoke passionately about the project he foundered 29 years ago - Reclink.

Reclink uses Australian Rules football as a conduit for disadvantaged people. Reclink uses team sports to assist the disadvantaged to break out of the cycle of drugs and alcohol, and provide opportunities.

More than 65,000 people in Australia each year attempt self harm or suicide. 71% of participants reported a better outcome as a result of being involved in Reclink programs. The program is running in India with 5 staff.

Guests
We welcomed guests Lisa Field - Werribee Mercy, and Michael Belfiore - Ray White Werribee. Emma Jane & Marilyn Jeffries from Wyndhamvale Primary.

IN BRIEF........
  • Footy Tipping - Round 17.  Jason Daddy won the $10, being 7 points off the winning margin. Tipping was a bit easier this week. Ann Smith tipped 7, and Lou Dowling, Phil Purdy, Jim Randall, Christine Conley & Marty Vaina tipped 6. The ladder after round 17 is starting to get tight at the top. Graham Roper and Ian Hovey still share top spot on 94, but are falling back into the clutches of the chasing pack. Ann Smith has moved into equal second with Mary Maguire on 93, and Lou Dowling on 92. It looks like the leaders have a touch of the wobbles.

  • The next Bunnings BBQ is on 18th July 2019, followed by 22 August 2019. Geoff needs a few more volunteers, as the same ones are turning up each BBQ. Call Geoff if you can assist for an hour or two.

  • Our thoughts go to Barb & Phil Purdy, on the passing of Barb's mother - aged 98.

  •  Cut Giggle & Sew - will now be held monthly. The next date will be announced shortly. Lyn Fava showed us what the team are working on each week.                                                           Click here to view brochure

  • District Conference Bendigo 27-29 March 2020 - Brian has booked rooms at the Quality Apartments Lakeside. Let Brian know if you want to put your name to a room.

  • Bingo - we made another $681 profit last night. We need some ideas/assistance to promote Bingo. Another 15 players would ensure we made $1,000 a night profit.

BEYOND BLUE FOOTBALL MATCH
Details for the Beyond Blue Football match have been finalised.

On Tuesday 6th August our meeting at ISCW will launch the match. The night will be a partners night.

We will have a guest speaker from Beyond Blue, as well as Jack Fitzpatrick & Michael Barlow from Werribee Football Club.

The Beyond Blue Cup under 18's game will follow the Werribee & Box Hill game at 5.00pm. Entry is a gold coin donation.

Werribee Football Club is providing a table at the presidents lunch for $60 pp, and will donate $30pp to Beyond Blue. See Peter Sandlant if interested.
