Opening Up after Covid-19 Lockdown
It’s great that we can see that opportunities are starting to open up for Rotary to Get Back into Action!
On Sun, Dec 20th the Club will be running a Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Hoppers Crossing. With new manning requirements from Bunnings, we need to provide 15 helpers (Rotarians and friends of Rotary) to be rostered over the three shifts (of 2 hours each).
Phil Purdy will be arranging the Bunnings roster, so if he contacts you to assist then please support the Club and help out if at all possible.
On Fri, Mar 26th 2021 we are having our next Werribee Rotary Charity Golf Day at the Werribee Park Golf Club. The organising team of Ian Hovey, Graham Roper and Ross Smith are well under way with planning this big event.
Bingo on Monday Nights.  Brian Ahmed is in regular contact with the Italian Social Club. They will let the Club know when they will be allowing the Bingo Nights to restart, which hopefully, may be in the near future!  When this happens, Roland Wade will be contacting members to go on the Monday Bingo Roster.
Our Christmas Breakup is on Tues, Dec 15th
We are having a Partners Night to celebrate the end of the year (and coming out of Covid-19 Lockdown) at 6.30 pm on Dec 15th at the Wyndham Cache, K Rd, Werribee South.
This will continue the Club’s tradition of a wonderful Breakup Function, with lots of food, drinks and fun - and perhaps even presents from Santa!
Put this date in your diary. More details coming soon.
Welcome to our Visitors
It’s always a pleasure to welcome visitors to our weekly meetings.
This week it was great to have Mike Seau visiting our meeting for the second time. Mike is now living locally, having come here from Tonga via New Zealand!
It was also great to have another visit from Amrit Singh, our Assistant District Governor for the Chirnside Cluster.
PS – Welcome back to Colin Muir, who is recovering from a major operation and was able to join us for the start of the meeting.
Have a great week everyone

Alphabet Racing - after meetings 17

A pair of stable mates were the standout performers on the weekend. On Friday night it was Sticky Micki who finally put her best hoof forward and scored 11 valuable points. On Saturday, Hovecat knocked them out of the racecourse with a big haul of 12 points to go with his 3 points on Friday. Both performances earned them $15 each and, with Mad Dog Muir running out of steam, it has put them in contention for a placing in the Cup.

Another good run at Ballarat came from the fiery Filthy Phil (10 points). He has now charged into equal second spot and has the top letter next week. Surely he will be the first to get to 50 points. Running beside him on the rails is Wendy Winx who failed to fire with 'S' on Friday night but made up for it the next day with 9 'T' points. But, with 9 furlongs to go, she is heading into nowhere land for the next 6 race meetings which may stop her in her tracks.

Killer Conley and Galloping Gail each grabbed 7 much-needed points and, in the process, passed a group of slow horses. It's hard to predict if they will sustain their inconsistent performances.

The Egg Man is still manning the little caboose at the back of the train and is guarding his position like a caged chicken. One length ahead is Pristine Christine who is back in familiar territory. A length further on is the plodder Frothy Joffa. There are rumours circulating that he consumed too much liquid barley the night before this race and is suffering as a result. There is no doubt that he will be subjected to urine and blood samples after the race which may lead to a stewards enquiry.

First – Mad Dog Muir - 48 points
Equal Second – Filthy Phil & Wendy Winx - 45 points
Third – Hoveycat & Jumbo Jimbo - 44 points
Werribee Rotary Golf Day

As a result of the improved Covid outcomes, we have taken the decision to proceed with the organisation of our Annual Golf Day.

To 'buy us as much time as possible' we have put the date back to Friday 26th March.

This year we are going to run the event as a morning competition, with a light breakfast and lunch.

We will soon be looking for sponsors & golfers.

We are going to need plenty of volunteers on the day, so put the date in your diary now.

The final details will be released prior to Christmas.

Next Week - 01.12.2020 at 6.45pm
Our newest member Vas Samaltanos will be giving a "this is your life"

First Half Memberships
Seven members have still not paid their first half membership dues.  This money is needed, to pay our RI dues, and our D9800 dues.
Please make your payment ASAP.
Guest Speakers
Everyone knows someone with an interesting story to tell. Pass them onto Ian Hovey so we can follow them up to speak to us on Zoom at a later date.
WERN has been operating from leased premises in Derrimut, and is in advanced negotiations with City of Melton for a purpose built facility, that will become available in late 2021.
Unfortunately the building we currently occupy has been sold, and we have been given a notice to vacate by 31.12.2020.  This means we potentially have to move twice in 12 months.
WERN has just signed a lease for 12 months on a new building in Ravenhall, and we are in planning for the move to take place in December 2020.
WERN will cease servicing clients on Thursday 3rd December, to allow all resources to go into the factory move.
WERN is looking to Rotary Clubs to provide volunteers for one or two days, to pack products into boxes and onto pallets, ready for the removalist
Werribee Rotary has put it's hand up on Monday 14th December. If you are able to devote time on the day -  2-3 hrs, 1/2 day, or a full day, can you let Ross S or Rob F know ASAP. Ladies are welcome, as there is plenty of work packing light kitchen items.
Bunnings BBQ
We have been allocated a date at Hoppers Crossing on Sunday 20.12.2020.
Bunnings now require 5 people for each shift.
Tony Todaro & Phil Purdy will be organising the roster, food etc.
The announcement by the Chairman on Sunday 22 November, contained no details on when Bingo can re-commence.  We are hopefull that Bingo will recommence before Christmas?
Meetings at ISCW
The board is talking with ISCW, and there is a chance we can hold a meeting at ISCW prior to Christmas. More details to follow.
