I must say I was delighted to see so much involved and spirited discussion at this week’s Forum meeting on Zoom. Well done to everyone who contributed to our Forum discussion!
I firmly believe, that this shows a way forward for our Club – for us all to be refreshed, reinvigorated and re-engaged in doing what Rotary does best – Serving the Community.
As I mentioned during the meeting, I am on a big learning curve as your President. As I progress forward on my Presidential year, I expect there may be some inadvertent missteps on the way. Whatever is the case, I am looking to you all for your continued support in moving the Club
forward during this Covid-19 pandemic. The Club should be aiming to come out in a strong position on the other side.
Thank you to Kathryn for being able to join us and talk briefly about the possibility of our Club becoming involved in two Chirnside Cluster Projects: an Environmental Project as part of Rotary ANZ’s Centenary celebrations, plus the investigation of establishing a Rotaract Club in this area. There will be regular updates to the Club as these Projects evolve.
Thank you to all of our Cut, Giggle and Sew team who helped clarify what may be possible with putting together a Facemasks Project for the Club. To Glenys, Mary, Lyn and Mikki – my sincere thanks!
Mary will be taking on the leadership of the Facemasks Project team and will be providing progress reports at our Club meetings.
In addition, the Club very greatly appreciates the unexpected and generous offers of financial support from Rob and John for the Facemasks Project. A wonderful gesture gentlemen!
There was a full discussion on our Zoom meetings regarding the time we could start and how the meeting could be organized.
As I see it, the end result agreed on seems to be that we schedule our Zoom meeting in a somewhat similar way to our meetings at the Italian Social Club:
6.30 pm social interaction
6.45 pm meeting starts - with President’s comments and reports
7.00 pm Guest Speaker (20 mins)
7.20 pm general comments from members and President’s conclusion
7.30pm (approx.) meeting closes.
For our next meeting on July 28th, I suggest we can trial this schedule and see what we think of it.
My first Board Meeting will be on Wed, July 29th at 7.30 pm. I will be emailing all Board members with my Zoom account details.
Have a great week everyone!
Michael
