PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
PRESIDENT MESSAGE

On Monday night I had the honour of presenting a PHF to Michael Nazzari, Hedy Nazzari and Ian Rawlings in recognition of all the hard work they have done over the last 4 years running our Bingo night.

At Monday’s bingo we had 89 in attendance and a profit of $1328 was raised. Thank you, Kim Deneys and Nusrat Islam for helping on the night. Roly Wade and Peter Ross are rostered for next Monday Night (27/6).

There will no meeting next week. Our next event will be the Changeover on the 12thJuly at Wyndham Grange Village in Tarneit.

I would like to thank my Board and members of our club for all their help during my year as President especially Ross Smith for doing both the Secretary and Bulletin Editor roles. It has been an honour and privilege to have been your President during the last 12 months.

I would like to wish President Elect Colin Muir all the very best for the next 12 months.

I will close with a thought for the week: There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.

Graham Roper

THIS WEEK AT ROTARY - 21 06.2022

Our guest speaker this week was Peter Morris, who runs a not for profit consultancy business called Pass The Baton.

Almost half of all Australian business owners are Baby Boomers (those born between 1946-1964) at the age of retirement.

Their businesses are often idiosyncratic and as a result dependent on the owner.

Many have no succession plan.

This raises the prospect businesses may vanish with irreparable harm to their communities.

Passing the Baton has programs to make these businesses saleable.

We also work with the next generation to attract and coach them to take over as owner/managers of local businesses.

The process Peter uses is;

  1. Renovate - review the business, and prepare it for sale
  2. Develop - Prepare the business for the next generation
  3. Sustain - grow & sustain the business.

Footy Tipping - after 15 Rounds

This week Ross S & Ian H tipped 8 out of 9. Nice tipping guys.

Heaps of tippers got 7 out of 9, while Brian & Exo managed only 5.

Hoves got the $10 for being closest to the margin - 35 points. That's hardly closest to the margin. The $10 should jackpot if you can't get closer then that.

The leaders after 15 rounds are:

91 points - Tiger - thanks to tipping against his own side again.

90 points - Ross C & Poppy Daddy.

88 points - Floreat Pica & Ann S.

75 points - Lucky Phil. If Phil had tipped against Essendon each week, he would be in third place.

WERRIBEE ROTARY FIT4USE STORE

Werribee Rotary is taking over the operation of the Fit4Use Store in Railway Avenue Werribee, on Thursday 30th June 2022.
  • We have a lease on the store for one year with a further one year option.

  • The store is run by non-Rotary volunteers. We will be looking to expand our volunteer base.
  • The store will run as a separate financial entity of Werribee Rotary, so we can see how it is going at all times.
  • We will provide details in future bulletins of what type of goods the store needs and how to donate.
