Bunning BBQs – Nothing In The Pipeline!
Bunnings Hoppers Crossing has informed us that each organization will be allocated only one weekend date. Our allocated weekend date has been used up. It was the Sunday before Christmas – when we achieved a record financial result!
Mid-week BBQs
Bunnings has stopped running all mid-week BBQ’s during the pandemic.
We have been informed that Werribee Rotary will be on the allocation list, once these BBQs restart.
AT THE BRIDGE HOTEL
I was very pleased to see 20 members attending our 3rd meeting for 2021 – plus we had 3 members who indicated to me they were unable to join us. It was good to have Lou Dowling back in person with us.
Several years ago the Club used to meet in the very same room at the Bridge Hotel. However, it had to move to another venue as this room was too small to accommodate comfortably all the members (about 60 members!}
At next week’s meeting the Board will be considering our ongoing venue. It will be making a recommendation to go to the members, who will to make the final decision. Speak to any Board member to express your preference.
RYPEN – Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment
Graham Roper and Kim Deneys are closely involved in supporting our INTERACT Club at Wyndham Central College. They have said they will be talking with the Interact Club and the School about the opportunities provided to students who apply for and are selected to be part of the RYPEN Program.
District 9800 is arranging two RYPEN weekend Camps this year – Mar 26-28 and during Oct (TBC).The RYPEN Weekend Camps are held at the Weekaway Camp near Lancefield, with the sponsor Club providing transport and funding the cost for each student.
Yvonne Moon OAM Memorial Concert on Sun, April 11
RoCan raises funds for Ovarian Cancer Research. Yvonne Moon, who was the powerhouse in establishing, promoting and fund-raising for RoCan, died of cancer late last year.
So far we have a group of 7 (and possible 9) people, comprising Rotarians and partners plus Friends of Rotary, attending the Memorial Concert. The cost is $30, with proceeds going to RoCan.
BRIAN UNDERESTIMATES!
Two weeks ago Brian Ahmed said he hoped we would get up to 100 Bingo players by the middle of the year.
One week later the numbers reached 100, with a record net profit of $1732.67 for Werribee Rotary!
Brian is now looking to see the numbers increase further, knowing that the Bingo Room can accommodate up to 120 people!
Enjoy the week ahead
