Last Week - Club - Club Assembly
At the meeting, our 2019/2020 directors gave us a snapshot of what the club will be doing during the year.
Treasurer - Wendy Roper
  • We are expecting charity income for the year of $75,000 plus.
  • Membership fees for 2019/20 - to be advised.
Membership - Ian Hovey filling in for Phil Purdy
Membership recruitment has been poor over the last 2-3 years. It is a club issue, not the membership committee.
The committee are looking for ideas & suggestions.
The average age of club members is increasing, and we are not attracting younger people. We all need to ask one another why?
  • Do we do enough projects to keep young people interested?
  • Are our meetings interesting?
  • Do we not make new people welcome?
Our current age demographic is:
  • 3% of members are less than 40
  • 11% of members are 40 to 50
  • 11% of members are 50 to 60
  • 31% of members are 60-70
  • 42% of members are over 70
Vocational - Jim Randall
  • Going to charter Interact Club
  • Going to do VCAL interviews again.
  • Essay competition
  • VCE scholarships
  • Apprentice program
  • Looking to do a vocational exchange
  • Vocational visits.

  • Continue BBQ's

Social
More social activities, as we are loosing the involvement of families in club activities.
IN BRIEF........
  • Footy Tipping - Round 14.  Ross Conley, Ian Hovey & Graham Roper tipped West Coast by 2 points and share the $10. Another easy week of tipping this week. Ian Hovey & Marty Vaina picked 6 winners. The ladder after round 14 is taking shape. It looks like Graham Roper has 'chocked' and has given up his lead, and now shares top spot with Ian Hovey on 79, followed by Mary Maguire on 77, and Lou Dowling on 76. Ann Smith has dropped off the pace, despite not tipping her Demons.

  • The Bunnings BBQ on 20th June made a profit of $514. Thanks to Geoff & the volunteers.

  • Next Bunnings BBQ - 18th July 1019

  • District Governor Changeover.  30th June 2019 for 12 start. Lakeside Receptions in Taylors Lakes. $70pp for 2 course meal & drinks.

  •  Barking Dogs - The 'dogs' have been busy with changeovers for Camberwell and Brighton North. They were paid $800 for each 'gig' which goes to club funds. Well done dogs. They are becoming so popular they have had to print business cards.

  • Bingo - last Monday's bingo made $1,080 profit. This continues to be a great money spinner for the club. Don't forget to promote it to friends, as it would be super profitable with another 20 players.

  • District Conference Bendigo 27-29 March 2020 - Brian has booked rooms at the Quest Apartments Lakeside. Let Brian know if you want to put your name to a room.

  • Guest Speakers - Geoff Smith & Mary Macaulary are organising the guest speakers this year. They are looking for some ideas or possible speaker names to follow up. Call them if you know someone who would be good.
