Colin spoke on behalf of the international committee, about our clubs history with FAIM trips. FAIM means fourth avenue in motion, and refers to the fourth avenue of service - which is international service.
 
Werribee Rotary has a rich history of involvement in FAIM projects.

Werribee Rotary are progressed in discussions for a FAIM trip to Vanuatu in 2020, to assist a Woodend Rotary Project.
 
 
Last week was the clubs 51st Anniversary.
 
 
 
 
Footy Tipping - Round 21
The $10 nearest the pin was won by Christine Conley who was 49 points from the margin.
 
With 2 rounds to go the winners are : $35 - Jason, $28 - Ross C, $25 - Adrian, $20 - Katheryn, $18 - Hoves, $15 - James, $13 - Graham, $10 - Ateam, Robert, Marty & Liz, and Christine, $5 - Ann. A big zero for the other 4.
 
Four tippers managed 8 winners for the week - Graham, Ann, Marty & Mary Maguire.
 
The ladder after round 21 is now a contest of three, as Lou & Mary Maquire have dropped off, and need to fluke 3-4 roughies.
Graham Roper now leads with 122, followed by Ian Hovey and Ann Smith 120, followed by Lou 118 & Mary 117.
 
Round 22 presents a few challenges - do you go safe or pick a couple of roughies?
 
 
 
IN BRIEF........

  • The next Bunnings BBQ is on 22 August 2019. Geoff needs a few more volunteers, as the same ones are turning up each BBQ. Call Geoff if you can assist for an hour or two.

  • District Conference Bendigo 27-29 March 2020 - Brian has booked rooms at the Quality Apartments Lakeside. Let Brian know if you want to put your name to a room.

  • Bingo - not sure how much we made this week.

  • Rotary in Action - the event was a very good Rotary event, but we struggled for non rotary numbers. The event is to run for 5 years, so there will be two more. The committee is looking at a new format to attract more non rotarians.

  • Beyond Blue Cup - was a great Rotary function, that the club is committed to continue next year. The club will donate $1,000 to Belond Blue. Hoppers Crossing Districts won the football match, and hold the cup for the next year.

Breakfast Club Roster Term 3
The Community Committee has agreed to run a Monster Book Sale during this Rotary Year.
 
We are probably looking at June 2020 during the school holidays.
 
We need to have the support of all members to start the process to collect about 15,000 books. As we get books we will store them in the various categories for the big day.
 
If you know anyone with old books, let the Community committee know so we can arrange to pick them up.
