PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
 PRESIDENTS REPORT

The first meeting of the new Rotary year was a very pleasant dinner meeting with a focus on social, with a guest speaker, and a few items of business to discuss.

The speaker was our very own PP Brian Ahmed of Wyndham Cache fame, with the topic  “ Doing Business in 2022”. What an interesting and very relevant topic for today.

Brian surprised us with his candour and openness when discussing his experience in business and the dramatic change that has happened since the onset of the pandemic.

His message was that “ Things have changed in business as a result of Covid19 and it is never going back to those good old days again”.

Brian highlighted staffing issues and the government support packages and how that is affecting the labour market today. Managing staffing is “the” major factor in running a business in Hospitality.
Of great interest was Brian’s explanation of why there are no eggs on the supermarket shelves today. Very Interesting!

It was a great presentation from Brian. The response to his presentation and the number of questions after showed what a great resource our members and their vocations bring to the club.
Thanks Again Brian.

Bingo Volunteer Options.
The Bingo management committee are offering an opportunity for those members and supporters, those that find it difficult to attend the Bingo for the full evening (3hours).

The new option is for a member to attend for a maximum of 45 mins and handout the Books of Tickets at the front door. (No money involved , ticket books only)

After the Bingo starts then the member is free to leave. The prize giving tasks will be still carried out by the two rostered members.

The reason for this change is to take the pressure off Michael the cashier and reduce the line waiting for their tickets. It’s too hard for one person when the there is a rush on.

We currently have two Rotarians helping at the front door on a regular basis , PP Graham and PP Brian, but we need more to help with this task.

There is a need for some introductory ‘training’ on the different books and games sold however that will be provided on an opportunity basis.

So if you find that committing to an all nighter on Monday is difficult, and you can assist from 6:15pm till 7:00pm please give Graham or Brian a call.

Be like PP Rob Fava pictured enjoying his night at Bingo and sign up to be a Bingo Master Ticket Seller.

Note: Rolly Wade will continue with the normal volunteer roster as usual.

Enjoy your week and just “Imagine Rotary”

OTHER BUSINESS

Covid Protocols from the Coronavirus Website

Influenza & Covid are both contagious respiratory illnesses. They both have similar symptoms, and you cannot tell the difference between the two by looking at the symptoms alone.

For the safety of all Rotary members, if you or a family member are sick or unwell, or have been in contact with somebody who has Covid, please follow extreme caution, and stay away from Rotary until your illness passes, or you have met Covid isolation protocols.

Covid is incredibly contagious, so lets err on the side of caution.
