PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
 PRESIDENTS REPORT

Week two of the new Rotary “Imagine” year was a formal Club Assembly followed by a Q&A style Forum. The format was for me as President to provide the members with a summary of the outcomes and board decisions from the Club Planning Day held early in May this year.

An Open Forum followed the Club Assembly to give members the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments on the club’s plans and objectives for the new year.

The response, from those members attending the meeting, to the proposed changes in the board structure and management processes, was overall positive with several questions leading to some lively debate following on during the forum Session.

I will make to PowerPoint presentation available for those who were unable to attend the Club Assembly.

Christmas In July at Rotary Bingo
A very pleasant evening of Bingo for 76 attendees as we celebrated Christmas in July. To mix up the evening caller Ian created several different games on the the night. Everyone enjoyed the game changes. Other than the Jackpot going off again the highlight was a gift of three Instant Scratch-Its to all players as a ‘Thank You’ for their support from the Rotary Club of Werribee.

Not to be outdone every member at Tuesday’s Rotary meeting also got the opportunity to win big with a gift of three Scratchies. However, I did not hear any screams of ‘I’ve won’ from our members.

Rotary’s Regionalisation Project
PDG Julie Mason will visit the Club on Tuesday 9th to present on the Regionalisation Project Pilot that we have been requested to vote as a club in September this year. This is a very important project for the future of Rotary.  Our region includes Rotary and Rotaract clubs in Australia, New Zealand and 14 countries.

A team has been working for some time to establish a pilot to support our clubs to explore, develop and test a new model of governing and operating Rotary that is relevant for our region. This is a must attend meeting however if you want to know more beforehand go to creatingtomorrowrotary.org

Enjoy your week and keep on ‘Imaging Rotary’
President Colin

Jason Daddy
We farewelled our friend and mate Jason Daddy this week. Jason was a member of our club for 4-1/2 years. He would have been 51 on 29/7. Jason took his own life, and it reinforces how we must reach out to one another when times get tough.
RIP Jason. Our thoughts are with Theresa & Charlotte.

Footy Tipping - after 19 Rounds

Another great week of AFL with some great games and highlights.

  • The Pies planned to overun the Bombers during the last quarter, but didn't mean to leave it to the last kick.
  • The Tigers let their supporters down again, and blew another match.
  • It was a shame Port Adelaide couldn't get up against the Cats, as I tipped them.
  • What's happened to the Mighty Dees, as they dropped another game.
  • Roper finally picked the Tigers.
This week Christine Conley got them all right and wins the bonus point. You might have left your run a bit late Christine, as you are still 8 off the lead.
Graham, Ross C, Floreat & Rick got 8 out of 9.

Floreat Pica wins the $10 being 9 points off the drawn result.

After 19 rounds, it looks like a match in two, as the rest are heading in the wrong direction.

Past Pres Graham still leads with 119, followed by Ross C on 117, and Floreat Pica on 115.

The big question this week is:
  • Will Roper tip his Tigers against the Brisbane Bears
  • Will Roscoe tip his Dogs against the 'Pussys"

OTHER BUSINESS

Covid Protocols from the Coronavirus Website

Influenza & Covid are both contagious respiratory illnesses. They both have similar symptoms, and you cannot tell the difference between the two by looking at the symptoms alone.

For the safety of all Rotary members, if you or a family member are sick or unwell, or have been in contact with somebody who has Covid, please follow extreme caution, and stay away from Rotary until your illness passes, or you have met Covid isolation protocols.

Covid is incredibly contagious, so lets err on the side of caution.
